Calcaneus Fracture Surgery

Calcaneus fractures are severe foot and ankle injuries that make it difficult and extremely painful to walk. To treat calcaneus fractures, Dr. Cole has developed a unique minimally invasive technique, which produces a low complication rate and has highly successful results.

Dr. Cole's method to treat severe heel fractures restores the normal shape of the bone using external medical devices that are removed before the patient awakes from surgery.

There are several advantages our calcaneus fracture surgery and that includes a smaller incision (1 to 1½ inch), that usually heals without complications, early healing, motion and return of the sub-tailor joint function.. Other calcaneus surgeries often result in stiffness secondary to large dissection and can lead to a stiff painful foot that may require additional surgery.

If you have sustained a compound fracture and you have swelling and fracture blisters, you may not need to wait until the skin heals before you have calcaneus fracture surgery. In many cases, by the time the skin has healed the fracture is also healing and this can create additional complications as the fracture could heal improperly, thus making it harder to restore to your natural alignment.

Dr. Cole is a specialist treating calcaneus fractures and other Orthopaedic traumatology. Learn more about Dr. Cole and request information on calcaneus fracture surgery or call us at (407) 895-8890.
