Fracture Care Center: Excellence in Orthopaedic Traumatology.

With more than 206 bones, plus accompanying joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves, the musculoskeletal system handles vital functions. Essentially, this network provides our body with support, stability, and movement. However, with such a complex system, it’s natural for problems to occur.

Should the unexpected happen, it’s vital to consult with a qualified orthopaedic physician and an experienced team. The Florida Hospital Orthopaedic Institute Fracture Care Center (FCC) has earned a reputation as a true leader in the field of orthopaedic medicine. Patients are expertly diagnosed and treated for various musculoskeletal conditions and injuries, both common and complex, 24 hours a day and seven days a week. Located within Florida Hospital Orlando, the Center has full access to the tertiary hospital’s state-of-the-art equipment and support services.

A Pioneer in Orthopaedic Medicine

The Fracture Care Center is a pacesetter in orthopaedic care. Treating more than 4,000 orthopaedic patients each year, the orthopedic specialists at the Center have the expertise and experience to treat the most common and most complex conditions.

The Fracture Care Center is led by J. Dean Cole, MD, a nationally renowned orthopaedic traumatologist. A true pioneer, Dr. Cole has created devices and techniques utilized by musculoskeletal specialists worldwide. His wide variation of diagnostic and surgical skills provides a platform to providing the highest quality care to all ages.

Under Dr. Cole’s and his colleagues’ leadership, the Center has become a true destination for medical innovation and the treatment of orthopaedic injuries and conditions. This is evidenced in the Center’s “Philosophy of Care,” a commitment to the highest quality and compassionate orthopaedic care resulting in successful outcomes. Essentially, this involves two unique principles: the “Comprehensive Care” team approach, and the incorporation of Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS).

“Comprehensive Care” team approach – Under this overall, guiding approach, our physicians have personally hand-picked the multidisciplinary Fracture Care Center team, all specifically trained and coordinated to treat orthopaedic conditions and/or injuries. From pre-admission to post-discharge, patients receive full attention from the dedicated physicians and orthopaedic staff, 24 hours a day and seven days per week. The Comprehensive Care approach makes the Fracture Care Center truly unique.

Minimally Invasive Surgery – Drs Cole, Vickaryous and Hawks are firm advocates for minimally invasive surgery (MIS), and have developed many of the techniques used by physicians worldwide. In fact, Dr. Cole was one of the first physicians who used a MIS approach to fracture treatment.  The patient benefits include faster healing and recovery periods, and reduced risks for infections and complications. Among the many MIS services offered at the Center are those for: fractures, limb lengthening, limb salvage, bone infection (osteomyelitis) treatment, and hip and knee replacements.

24/7 Availability – This is a unique feature of the Fracture Care Center. Here, our team of physicians, physician assistants, nurses and support staff are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide patients with care and treatment. Whatever your particular condition and/or injury, you’ll find access to an unrivaled degree of personalized attention and orthopaedic care.
